Aero Bed Mattress Guide – How To Fix and Maintain Your Mattress

Although there is much to love about the Aero Bed mattress, you might not like repairing and maintaining it if there are holes or damages. This does not occur to an ordinary bed. Only an air mattress can pose such significant problems.

This mattress brand is a household name. When it comes to guest mattresses or spare mattresses at home, the Aero Bed is the name you can trust. With the versatility of the beds they are offering, you can use them for various intents and purposes. Today, inflatable mattresses are no longer used for camping trips alone. They can be used as a dorm mattress, RV mattress, a play area, a kid’s mattress and even travel mattress. The possibilities are endless.

Be wary of the fake Aero Beds circulating around. Those that do not have the makings of a real Aero Bed do not last long. They tend to sag and deflate quickly. However, this does not mean that the authentic Aero Beds are built to last. Although the most durable materials have been used to make them durable, the user might still encounter a few problems with the mattress.

How To Patch Aero Bed Mattress

If there are holes, you need to fix them immediately before they get bigger. That being said, you have to regularly inspect your mattress for signs of wear and tear. Here is a step by step guide on how to patch the holes:

Step 1: Find the leaky part first. It might be difficult to find a small hole but there is a trick on how to determine the damaged area. Get an empty spray bottle and fill it up with water. Add 4 drops of dishwashing liquid to the water. Flip the bottle a few tips to let the dishwashing liquid incorporate but not fully form bubbles.

Step 2: Spray it all over the mattress. If there air is leaking on a part of the mattress, bubbles will immediately appear. After you have found the leak, get a piece of masking tape and mark the leaky area.

Step 3: If your Aero Bed came with a repair kit, use the included patch to seal the hole. However, if your purchase did not come with the kit, buy a patch from the supply store. If you don’t have time to go to the store, use a discarded shower curtain. Cut a small piece of the liner of the shower curtain.

Step 4: Use a sealant product to seal the piece of shower curtain liner or the patch that came with the repair kit. You can find reliable and durable sealants from the hardware store.

Step 5: Allow the sealant to dry up completely. You should also place a bit more sealant on the center of the patch to completely stop the air from leaking. Wipe away excess sealant products on the edges of the patch.

Step 6: Hold the patch for a few minutes until it has full attached to the bed. Make sure you do not stick your hand in the process. Once the sealant has dried up well, trim any patch excess

Step 7: Try inflating the mattress to see if you patched the hole well.

How To Avoid Aero Bed Mattress Hole

Aero bed mattress models are not the only ones vulnerable to the appearance of holes. All air mattresses are at risk of punctures and damages. You have to be careful not to damage your mattress.

Tip 1: Use appropriate bed linens and bed covers. Make sure the bed covers are thick enough to protect the mattress from punctures.

Tip 2: Check the manual or the instruction guide for warnings or cautions. Find out the maximum weight the mattress can accommodate. Make sure you do not go over the maximum weight to prevent tearing of seams.

Tip 3: Clear the area of sharp objects that might come into contact with the mattress. It is also better to place your Aero Bed mattress on a box spring to avoid further damages.

Tip 4: Inflate the mattress at the right level of firmness only. Do not put too much air pressure inside as this might unravel the stitching on the sides of the bed.

Tip 5: Do not let kids play on your mattress. This will put too much strain on the mattress. Only use the mattress when needed. If you are using this as a guest bed, you should inflate it only when needed. This should not be a huge hassle since Aero Bed mattress models come with pump devices that work in just a minute.
